Race Day Info

Race Day Update

We have rescheduled the 2020 Badge of Honor Benefit Run for October 10, 2020.  The times and location have not change.  We have updated the on-line registration on Active.com.  We will post the updated flyer and registration form on the event web and social media sites once the documents have been updated.  Everyone registered to date for the event does not need to do anything regarding registration. Please visit the event website for continual updates at bohbr.com.

We have extended the finisher medal and shirt deadline to September 1, so let friends, family, coworkers, etc. know.  I am so sorry we are all going through this terrible Coronavirus event, but we will prevail.

Event Cancellation Policy

With any outdoor event, weather may be a factor on whether or not the race will take place. Race personnel may have to cancel or delay the event in case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the health and safety of the participants and spectators. In the event of a cancellation, refunds will not be issued.  However, if the event is cancelled, every effort will be made to reschedule it at a later date.

Refund Policy

The Badge of Honor Benefit Run is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Three Rivers College, 2080 Three Rivers Boulevard, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. There will be no refunds for the race.  However, if someone wishes to change races, they will have to do so by October 9, 2020.  If a participant wishes to upgrade to a longer race (5k to 10k), they must pay the difference between races.  If a participant wishes to downgrade to a shorter race (10k to 5k), they will not be refunded the difference in price.  There will be no changes after the October 9 deadline.

There should be plenty of parking for the race, which includes participants and spectators, at the college. A map will be placed below at a later time to identify parking areas for the race at Three Rivers College.

The race will start at 9:00 A.M. Race day registration will commence at 7:00 A.M. and will end at 8:00 A.M. This is necessary so all the information can loaded into the computer for the chip time company and ensure race time is initiated at 9:00 A.M. We plan to order extra shirts and finisher medals for those registering on race day, but there is no guarantee a participant registering on race day will receive a shirt and/or finisher medal.

There are no age restrictions for registration; however, there are special conditions. Participants ten years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older) for the 5K and 10K events. For the Half Marathon event, participants 12 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older).

Payment for race day registration must be by check, money order, or cash, since we will not have the ability to process credit card payments. Please make checks and money orders payable to the Badge of Honor Benefit Run, Inc. Participants will be required to complete a registration form prior to participating in the event. On-line registration with Active.com will be active until race day. See Registration Tab on this website for more information. The Race is capped at 800 participants. Individuals can still register prior to 8:00 A.M. on race day as long as the event is not sold out. Hard copy registration forms will be posted to this website and the Facebook page.

Packet Pickup

Participants will be able to pick up their packets on Friday, October 9, 2020, between 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Bess Activity Center at Three Rivers College (2080 Three Rivers Blvd., Poplar Bluff, MO 63901). Participants will also be able to pick up their packets on race day, between 7:00 – 8:00 A.M. at the registration table, which will be located inside the activity center.

Chip Time Service

SplitMasterTiming will chip time the event. They will provide all participants with instructions on the chip timing process prior to the commencement of the race.  All three races (5K, 10K, Half Marathon) will be chipped time.  The chip timing device is velcroed to your ankle.  Everyone participating in the event must have a chip timing device secured to their ankle.  Failure to have a chip timing device from start to finish will disqualify you from the race.  The chips will be removed from participants as they cross the finish line by volunteers.  Make sure your chip timing device is removed after crossing the finish line.  The chip timing table will be located next to the registration table inside the Bess Activity Center.

Half Marathon 5K, 10K, 15K Checkpoints

The Half Marathon route will have checkpoints along the route and the 5K, 10K and 15K mark. Participants must cross the chip timing mats at these locations in order to receive an official race time.  Failure to properly cross these mats will be an automatic disqualification.  The 5K, 10K, and 15K checkpoints will be properly marked.

Race Bibs

Participants registered will receive a bib in their race packet. Participants will be required to wear the bib number somewhere on the front so the announcer can properly identify the participant as they cross the finisher time.

There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies presented to the top three overall finshers in each of the race events (5K, 10K, and Half Marathon).  Except for the top three overall finishers in each race event, the top three finishers in each age group category will receive medals.  All awards will be presented inside the Bess Activity Center.  The 5K Awards presentation will begin at 9:45 A.M., 10K Awards presentation will begin at 10:30 A.M. and the Half Marathon Awards presentation will begin at 11:30 A.M.

Top Awards

The Bess Activity Center will be open to the public so everyone can use the restrooms facilities. We will also have several porta potties on the parking lot. Porta potties will also be placed at the halfway point on the half marathon route.

Race Routes

All race routes will be clearly marked and volunteers will be strategically placed to guide runners to their designated race routes. Aid stations will be strategically placed throughout the 10K and Half Marathon routes. We will try to position aid stations approximately every two miles, but several may be shorter or longer distances due to logistics.

Snacks, Supplements and Beverages

Due to the Coronavirus, we will only provide water and sport drinks at race location and designated aid stations.

Medical Emergencies

We have the local ambulance districts available to attend to any injury or medical condition. The local hospitals will be advised of the race so they are prepared if a medical emergency arises.

Shirts / Medals

All participants registered by the September 1, 2020 date will be guaranteed a quality race shirt and finisher medal. This includes all races.
